Boating (38)

Seajay Nomad - By Dan Kaggelis

There’s something about the simplicity of small boats which makes them so enjoyable. Whilst they may not have the creature comforts of larger boats, the fact that we are often time and money poor means having a boating and fishing option which is inexpensive, easy to prepare and maintain, and most importantly simple to get on the water can make a big difference in terms of fishing frequency and experience.

New From Mercury

Mercury Marine is excited to introduce its all new V6 FourStroke outboard family and the expansion of its SeaPro commercial line.

Just unveiled at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show, the new engines include 175hp, 200hp and 225hp FourStroke outboards and a V6 200hp SeaPro commercial outboard.

It doesn’t take long to learn that a Stejcraft review means an awesome experience on the water and the 610 and 640 Monaco models lived up to that expectation. Both boats were immaculately presented and both gained a lot of public attention at the ramp before and after the review.

The Haines Signature 495F is the new entry level cuddy cab from the Haines Group. Replacing the 493F, it has been redesigned and tweaked a little. Suitable for a family fun day on the water, fishing or even the overnight camping trip.

"Big Wave Tinny" Grant Budd 2017

When I saw the weather report of 25-30 knots and 2m swells, I contacted Pat at Waverider Boats and said let’s postpone until another day. He replied, "The only thing that can stop us is fear. Fear not!" With a comment like that, what could I do but make my way to Mooloolaba to try it out?

Trick My Tinnie: Pt 1 Ben Keen 2017

Two things in life define me, my ability to dream and my penchant for expensive toys. I think I know where it started. I was 12 years-old. The location was K Mart at Wynnum West. Up the back was a glass cabinet that could only be unlocked by an appropriately trained staff member - like all expensive things in Wynnum, it pays to lock them up. In this cabinet sat 2 items that would mesmerise me: Alvey reels & fish finders.

Trick My Tinnie: Pt 2 Ben Keen 2017

A couple of editions back, you might remember I went through the process of installing a bow mounted electric motor on my tinnie.

Over the last few months, the electric has been such a welcome addition to "Big Bad Barry" that I decided to go next level and pimp my sounder.

So, why the upgrade?

Tracker Review - Peter Kaye 2017

It was love at first sight when we crossed paths at the Brisbane Boat Show. A good friend of mine introduced us, the next four hours were spent pawing over her and finding out as much as I could about this beauty. The Tracker Pro Guide V-175 SC had everything I wanted in a boat and more! The only question was, how did she ride?

If you are in the market for a serious offshore trailer boat, then look no further as the Surtees 650 Game Fisher (650) ticks all of those angling boxes.

Surtees had in mind the serious offshore angler when designing this incredible watercraft.

Review: Polycraft - By Wayne Baldry

What are you laughing at? Yes, I know it’s purple. Yes, I know it’s plastic. Yes, I know it’s full of nearly enough women to form a netball team. That’s the whole reason I have a purple plastic boat. Fellow fishermen and so called mates, can be so cruel.
